I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20
There is an unspoken pressure that almost everyone carries quietly.
It is the subtle, persistent anxiety about what comes next. You look at your schedule, your responsibilities, your family, or your finances, and a quiet question whispers in the back of your mind: “How am I going to handle tomorrow?”
Life has a way of piling weight onto our shoulders until the future feels less like a promise and more like an overwhelming shadow. When challenges stack up, it is easy to start believing that tomorrow is not assured.
So, we look for anchors.
We try to secure our future with money in our bank accounts. We lean on our degrees, our career networks, our personal discipline, or the promises of people who care about us.
None of those things are inherently bad. Education is valuable, financial stewardship is wise, and healthy connections are a blessing.
But here is a truth we must anchor our hearts in today:
Human security was never designed to bear the weight of your tomorrow.
You can have a robust savings account and still lie awake at 2:00 AM filled with worry. You can hold the highest qualifications in your field and still feel completely helpless when life throws an unexpected storm your way.
If your peace depends on things that can change overnight, your rest will always be fragile.
When the world feels shaky, we have to return to the foundation that cannot move.
There is a timeless hymn that believers have sung through generations of trial, uncertainty, and grief: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.”
That line is not just a poetic sentiment to sing on a Sunday morning. It is a profound spiritual reality.
Your assurance for tomorrow does not rest on what you have built or what you control. Your assurance for tomorrow is the resurrection life of Jesus Christ.
Jesus did not merely conquer sin and death in the past so that you could struggle through the present on your own. The very same life that raised Christ from the dead is alive, active, and dwelling inside you right now. When spiritual opposition or doubts try to challenge this truth, remember that there is No Legal Ground: How to Enforce Christ’s Full Ransom in Spiritual Warfare for the enemy to rob you of your peace.
Think about what that means for your daily existence:
When you begin to grasp this, tomorrow loses its power to intimidate you. You stop looking at the future through the lens of your limited strength and start seeing it through the lens of His unlimited life.
Knowing that Christ lives in you intellectually is one thing; living with that awareness every morning is another.
We need to make it a point of duty—a deliberate daily habit—to renew our consciousness of the life of Christ within us. When you wake up to face a difficult conversation, a pressing financial requirement, or a health challenge, what is the first thought that fills your mind?
Do you immediately audit your own strength, or do you pause and remind yourself: “Christ lives in me”?
When you walk into a room carrying the consciousness of Christ’s life, you don’t enter as someone fighting for survival. You enter as someone whose victory has already been established by the One who conquered the grave.
If you are genuinely a child of God, you are not navigating this life alone. You don’t have to figure out every detail of the next five years, five months, or even five hours. Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Because He lives, tomorrow is already secured.
(Note: These principles of leaning on Christ’s strength daily are also part of what we teach the next generation through Deliberate Kids, such as in our resource Inside Out: The Garden of the Lord | Fruit of the Spirit Lesson for Kids.)
Perhaps as you read this, you realize that you have been trying to carry the heavy weight of your life in your own strength. You may have slipped into a pattern where effort replaces surrender—much like what happens When Hard Work Becomes Disobedience.
You have been rowing hard against the waves of anxiety, trying to control every outcome, and you are simply exhausted You don’t have to keep doing life on your own terms.
You can make a deliberate exchange right now.
If you are ready to surrender your self-reliance and step into the assurance of His resurrection life, pray this from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I cannot do life on my own. I stop trying to carry the burden of tomorrow in my limited strength. Today, I exchange my life for the life of Christ. I choose to no longer live for myself, my fears, or my own plans. I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me. I yield my future, my worries, and my decisions into Your hands.
A Prayer of Surrender and Declaration:
“Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I cannot do life on my own. I stop trying to carry the burden of tomorrow in my limited strength. Today, I exchange my life for the life of Christ. I choose to no longer live for myself, my fears, or my own plans. I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me. I yield my future, my worries, and my decisions into Your hands. Because You live, I can face today, tomorrow, and forever in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
